The Universal Altman Easy Latch Installation Kit is a professional fabrication shortcut for custom builders. While installing universal "bear claw" latches into a door shell can be a geometry nightmare, this kit provides the pre-formed steel components needed to create a clean, recessed pocket in your door and a reinforced mounting point in your door jamb.
Key Components & Design
Pre-Bent Installation Plates: Includes two 18-gauge steel plates bent at a precise 85-degree angle. This subtle "under-bend" allows you to pull the plate into a perfect 90-degree corner during the welding process, ensuring your latch sits square to the door edge.
Reinforced Nut Plates: To handle the structural stress of a slamming door, the kit includes two weld-in captured nut plates. These provide a much stronger anchor than simply threading into the thin sheet metal of a factory door jamb.
Standard Threading: The captured nuts are threaded to 3/8-16, matching the stainless steel striker pins included with Universal Altman Easy Latches for a direct, secure fit.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be:

With original tags attached
In its original packaging
You must also provide a receipt or proof of purchase.

To initiate a return, please contact us at jonathon@hotrodhardware.com. Once your return request is approved, you will be provided with the return address and, if applicable, an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number.
Important: Items sent back without prior authorization will not be accepted.

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon delivery. If your item is defective, damaged, or if you received the wrong item, contact us immediately so we can evaluate the issue and resolve it promptly.

Exchanges
The fastest way to receive a replacement item is to return your original item (once approved) and place a new order separately.
Free Shipping Orders
Orders that qualified for free shipping are subject to deduction of the original outbound shipping cost if the item is returned.
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you regarding the approval status of your refund.
If approved:
Refunds will be issued to your original payment method
Any applicable restocking fees will be deducted
Original shipping charges (if applicable) will be deducted
Return shipping costs (if arranged by Hot Rod Hardware) will be deducted
