About Hot Rod Hardware

Tim Gangl started “Hot Rod Hardware” as “Minnesota Hot Rod Hardware” twenty years ago, but his passion for cars began long before that. Tim’s Dad recognized it even before he did when he bought Tim his first car at 12 years old. A 1935 Ford Coupe off of a rock pile on Tim’s Grandparent's farm. Tim never finished that car, but it added to a passion that grew to the point of no return.

While working on his cars, Tim had always been frustrated with what was available in his area for aftermarket auto parts. After a twenty-five-year career in the transportation industry, he made some connections with manufacturers, and he began selling Street Rod, Hot Rod, and Muscle Car parts at car shows in greater Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. It wasn’t long before Tim was recognized for his knowledge of the parts he was selling as well as what products would work best in specific situations. That, along with the attitude that if he doesn't know the answer to your question, he will do everything he can to find it.

Through the early 2000s, Minnesota Hot Rod Hardware grew rapidly and soon sold parts nationally. In 2011, Minnesota was dropped from the name to recognize our now national service to the industry. We pride ourselves on carrying the highest quality parts in the industry and the highest quality service in the industry, with our phones being answered by a live human nine times out of ten. We continue striving to improve our business by developing and improving our website and customer service, making it second to none.

Tim began selling parts with his Dad, with the help of his wife Patti, and a few close friends. Now, Tim’s sons Jonathon and Joel have joined the business, keeping it a true family business and ensuring a tradition that will continue long into the future—operating with pride, dignity, and hard work.
