The Heidts Mustang II Independent Front Suspension (IFS) Kit. Specifically engineered for the 1953–1956 Ford F100, this weld-in system replaces the outdated straight-axle and leaf spring setup, delivering the smooth ride, improved geometry, and precise handling of a contemporary pickup.
Engineering and Construction
Complete Hub-to-Hub Solution: This kit arrives as a total engineering package, including the main crossmember and all internal components, bearings, and seals required for a full front-end conversion.
Ride Height Control: Designed to naturally lower the vehicle's center of gravity. For those seeking an even more aggressive look, 2-inch dropped spindles are available to further tuck the tires into the wheel wells.
Tubular A-Frame Arms: Includes paintable tubular upper and lower control arms. These offer significantly better strength-to-weight ratios and a cleaner, professional appearance compared to original or stamped steel parts.
Precision Steering & Braking: Replaces the heavy original steering gear with a responsive rack and pinion system and swaps original drums for modern 11-inch GM-style disc brakes.
Kit Includes:
Control Arms: Choice of Stock or Narrow tubular control arms. (A Polished Stainless Steel upgrade is available for show-quality builds).
Spindles: Available in Stock height or 2-inch Dropped spindles for a lower stance.
Braking: Standard 11" GM Disc Brakes (High-performance Wilwood upgrades are available).
Steering: Manual Rack and Pinion (Power steering racks are available as an upgrade).
Suspension: Standard Shocks and Springs (Upgrade options include Coil-over shocks or an Air Bag kit for maximum height adjustability).
Hardware: Includes all necessary mounting hardware, spindle nuts, washers, bearings, and seals.
Installation & Technical Notes
Weld-In Fitment: This is a weld-in system that requires the crossmember and spring towers to be fused to the F100 frame rails for maximum structural integrity.
Frame Preparation: Frame boxing is required to reinforce the original "C" channel rails, providing the rigidity needed for a modern IFS.
Axle Centerline: Proper installation involves centering the new crossmember on the original axle centerline to ensure the wheels remain perfectly centered in the fender openings.
Handling Upgrades: An optional Sway Bar is available to significantly reduce body roll and improve cornering stability.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be:

Unworn or unused
With original tags attached
In its original packaging
You must also provide a receipt or proof of purchase.

Important: Items sent back without prior authorization will not be accepted.

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon delivery. If your item is defective, damaged, or if you received the wrong item, contact us immediately so we can evaluate the issue and resolve it promptly.

Exchanges
The fastest way to receive a replacement item is to return your original item (once approved) and place a new order separately.
Free Shipping Orders
Orders that qualified for free shipping are subject to deduction of the original outbound shipping cost if the item is returned.
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you regarding the approval status of your refund.
If approved:
Refunds will be issued to your original payment method
Any applicable restocking fees will be deducted
Original shipping charges (if applicable) will be deducted
Return shipping costs (if arranged by Hot Rod Hardware) will be deducted
