Description
Upgrade your 1948–1952 Ford truck with the Heidts Mustang II Front Suspension Kit. This system is specifically designed to replace the original, harsh-riding straight axle with a modern independent setup, giving your classic F-1 pickup the handling characteristics and comfort of a much newer vehicle.
Engineering and Construction
Comprehensive Modernization: This "hub-to-hub" system includes a custom-engineered crossmember and all necessary components to transform your truck's front end.
Tubular A-Frame Arms: Includes paintable tubular upper and lower control arms. These offer a significant weight reduction and a much cleaner, show-quality aesthetic compared to stock stamped steel components.
Contemporary Braking: Standardized with 11-inch GM-style disc brakes, providing the reliable, fade-resistant stopping power required for modern highway speeds.
Responsive Steering: Replaces the original steering box with a manual rack and pinion, eliminating the play and heavy steering effort common in vintage trucks.
Kit Includes:
Control Arms: Choice of Stock or Narrowed Tubular Control Arms.
Note: Narrowed arms are highly recommended for this application to provide better tire-to-fender clearance and allow for a wider variety of wheel offsets.
Spindles: Available in Stock height or 2-inch Dropped spindles for those looking to achieve a lower, more aggressive stance.
Braking: Standard 11" GM Disc Brakes (Premium Wilwood brake upgrades are available).
Steering: Manual Rack and Pinion (Power steering racks are available as an upgrade).
Suspension Options: Standard Shocks and Springs (Optional upgrades include Coil-over shocks or an Air Bag kit for adjustable ride height).
Full Hardware Package: Includes rubber spring cushions, spindle nuts, washers, bearings, seals, and all necessary mounting hardware.
Installation & Technical Notes
Weld-In Fitment: This is a weld-in kit. The crossmember and spring towers must be professionally welded to the frame for a permanent, structural bond.
Frame Reinforcement: Frame boxing is required to provide the structural integrity needed for the new suspension geometry on the original Ford rails.
Axle Centerline: Proper installation involves establishing the axle centerline to ensure the wheels are perfectly centered in the fender openings.
Spring Rates: Multiple spring rates are available to accommodate various engine configurations, from the original "Flathead" V8 or Inline-6 to modern Small Block or LS swaps.

Eligibility for Returns
To be eligible for a return, your item must be:
In the same condition as received
Unworn or unused
With original tags attached
In its original packaging
You must also provide a receipt or proof of purchase.

To initiate a return, please contact us at jonathon@hotrodhardware.com. Once your return request is approved, you will be provided with the return address and, if applicable, an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number.
Important: Items sent back without prior authorization will not be accepted.

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon delivery. If your item is defective, damaged, or if you received the wrong item, contact us immediately so we can evaluate the issue and resolve it promptly.

Exchanges
The fastest way to receive a replacement item is to return your original item (once approved) and place a new order separately.
Free Shipping Orders
Orders that qualified for free shipping are subject to deduction of the original outbound shipping cost if the item is returned.
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you regarding the approval status of your refund.
If approved:
Refunds will be issued to your original payment method
Any applicable restocking fees will be deducted
Original shipping charges (if applicable) will be deducted
Return shipping costs (if arranged by Hot Rod Hardware) will be deducted
