The Heidts Superide® II IFS System is a high-performance independent front suspension designed specifically to modernize the 1940–1946 Chevrolet truck. By replacing the original straight axle and leaf springs, this kit provides the smooth ride quality and precise handling of a modern vehicle while maintaining the classic aesthetic of your pickup.
Engineering and Performance
Purpose-Built Design: This is a ground-up independent suspension system, not a Mustang II conversion. It is engineered to handle the specific weight distribution and frame dimensions of 1940–1946 Chevy trucks.
Front-Mount Steering: The system utilizes a specific spindle design that allows for a front-mount rack and pinion. This setup is a major advantage for truck owners, as it clears up significant space in the engine bay for V8 engine swaps and steering shaft routing.
Locked-In Alignment: The upper control arms utilize threaded adjusters for wheel alignment. Unlike standard eccentric adjusters, these threaded units will not "slip" or lose their setting, even when the truck encounters heavy bumps or rough roads.
Refined Geometry: Engineered for a low stance and high steerability, the Superide® II features built-in anti-dive and zero bumpsteer for predictable, stable handling.
Construction and Features
3-Piece Crossmember: The specialized 3-piece design simplifies the installation process, allowing for precise fitment and welding to the original Chevrolet truck frame rails.
Standard Performance Upgrades: This kit comes standard with a power steering rack and a sway bar, providing an immediate improvement in steering effort and cornering stability.
Modern Braking: Includes 11-inch rotors and 4-piston Wilwood calipers as standard equipment, ensuring your classic truck has the stopping power to match its improved performance.
Billet Coil-Overs: Features billet coil-over shocks and springs that allow for fine-tuning of the ride height and dampening characteristics.
Kit Includes:
Main Crossmember: High-strength 3-piece weld-in unit.
Control Arms: Tubular upper and lower arms with threaded adjusters.
Spindles: Choice of Stock or 2-inch Dropped spindles for a lower stance.
Brakes: 11" rotors paired with 4-piston Wilwood calipers.
Steering: Power rack and pinion (Manual available upon request).
Sway Bar: Included as standard with bushings and mounting hardware.
Full Hardware Package: Complete hub-to-hub kit including all necessary bearings and seals.
Installation & Technical Notes
Weld-In Integration: Professional welding is required to integrate the crossmember into the chassis for a permanent, structural bond.
Drivability: Installing a Heidts system is one of the most effective ways to increase both the "fun-to-drive" factor and the resale value of a 1940s-era Chevy truck.

Unworn or unused
With original tags attached
In its original packaging
You must also provide a receipt or proof of purchase.

To initiate a return, please contact us at jonathon@hotrodhardware.com. Once your return request is approved, you will be provided with the return address and, if applicable, an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number.
Important: Items sent back without prior authorization will not be accepted.

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon delivery. If your item is defective, damaged, or if you received the wrong item, contact us immediately so we can evaluate the issue and resolve it promptly.

Exchanges
The fastest way to receive a replacement item is to return your original item (once approved) and place a new order separately.
Free Shipping Orders
Orders that qualified for free shipping are subject to deduction of the original outbound shipping cost if the item is returned.
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you regarding the approval status of your refund.
If approved:
Refunds will be issued to your original payment method
Any applicable restocking fees will be deducted
Original shipping charges (if applicable) will be deducted
Return shipping costs (if arranged by Hot Rod Hardware) will be deducted
