Description
The Unisteer GM Type II (TC Style) Low-Flow Power Steering Pump is a brand-new, premium hydraulic solution engineered specifically for modern rack-and-pinion conversions and custom steering systems. When building or modifying your vehicle's steering, pairing the right pump to your gear is critical—using an improperly matched pump is the number-one cause of erratic, twitchy, or overly sensitive steering.
Optimized Low-Flow Performance
Unisteer eliminates the guesswork by custom-valving and testing every unit before it leaves the factory:
Engineered for Rack-and-Pinion Systems: Unlike traditional steering boxes that thrive on high-volume flow, power rack-and-pinion setups require low-flow, low-pressure parameters to deliver stable, predictable, and linear steering assist.
State-of-the-Art Bench Testing: Every pump is internally preset to its exact designated flow rate and pressure curve, then fully tested on a specialized simulation stand to guarantee plug-and-play functionality out of the box.
The Sensitivity Solution: If your steering feels darting or overly touchy on the highway, it is usually because a high-flow steering box pump was used. While aftermarket pressure-reducing shims can clip peak pressure, they cannot alter a pump's internal fluid volume. This low-flow Type II pump provides the correct volume natively.
Premium Plumbing and Remote Reservoir Configuration
Designed for high-end engine bays where space is limited, this pump is optimized to run with a clean, detached fluid reservoir:
Unpolished Aesthetic: Features a raw, cast aluminum finish—perfect for clean, understated, or race-inspired engine themes.
AN Fluid Porting: Pre-configured to easily accept a -6 AN high-pressure fitting and a -10 AN fluid return line running to your remote-mounted reservoir.
Press-On Shaft: Utilizes a standard press-on pulley design. (Note: To protect the internal seals and shaft bearings, the pulley should always be installed using a professional power steering pulley installation tool, never hammered or pressed into place with a shop press).
