The 1970–1972 Chevrolet Chevelle (Non-Factory Air) Vintage Air Gen-5 SureFit® Complete Air Conditioning Kit is the ultimate, fully electronic climate control conversion for classic A-body Chevelles built originally without factory air conditioning. Vintage Air's Gen-5 architecture replaces outdated mechanical cables, vacuum lines, and primitive blend doors with microprocessor-controlled servo motors and high-efficiency aluminum coils to deliver modern reliability and fast, ice-cold cabin cooling.
As a Complete Kit, this package includes every single component required for a full installation—from the high-capacity under-dash evaporator module down to the under-hood belt-drive compressor, condenser, custom preformed lines, and mounting brackets.
Gen-5 Technological Upgrades
Fly-By-Wire Microprocessor Control: Completely eliminates troublesome mechanical push-pull cables and vacuum hoses in favor of precise, fully electronic microprocessor-driven servo actuators.
Independent Dual Coils & Blend Door: Houses separate, high-density aluminum A/C and heating core coils within a single high-strength injection-molded case. Combined with rubber-sealed blend air doors, it allows instantaneous vent temperature mixing (dash, floor, and defrost).
Vibration & NVH Isolation: Employs heavy-duty rubber well-nut mounting points to isolate blower motor vibration from the firewall, ensuring ultra-quiet cabin operation.
OEM Block-Type Expansion Valve: Modern block valve design improves refrigerant metering efficiency and system reliability compared to older tube-style valves.
Clean Firewall Integration: Shipped complete with a custom flat steel firewall cover plate to smoothly seal and hide the original heater box opening for a clean, show-quality engine bay.
System Components & Included Hardware
Under-Dash Evaporator & Air Handler: The primary cabin climate module features a high-output injection-molded housing containing separate high-density A/C and heater cores. It houses a quiet multi-speed blower motor, electronic servo-driven blend air doors, removable access covers for straightforward coil servicing, and custom powder-coated mounting brackets.
Under-Hood Compressor, Condenser & Lines: Completing the engine-bay refrigerant loop is a high-performance Sanden-style A/C compressor supplied with engine-specific mounting brackets. The package includes a heavy-duty parallel-flow condenser core with custom brackets, a receiver/drier, and preformed vehicle-specific refrigerant lines equipped with beadlock O-ring fittings.
Controls, Wiring & Service Hardware: For the interior interface, the kit provides a brand-new electronic control panel tailored to fit your Chevelle's dash layout seamlessly. It arrives complete with full plug-and-play wiring harnesses, electronic thermostatic sensors, a drain hose assembly, and step-by-step installation instructions.

Ensure your engine bracket selection matches your specific engine block (Small Block, Big Block, or LS swap) and pulley system (V-belt vs. serpentine) when finalizing your under-hood setup.
