The Heidts Pro-G® Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) for the 1970–1973 Pontiac Firebird is a world-class engineering solution for drivers who want to move beyond the limitations of a solid rear axle. This bolt-in package transforms the second-generation F-Body into a precision handling machine, offering the independent wheel movement necessary to dominate the autocross or road race course.
Performance and Advanced Geometry
True Independent Control: By allowing each rear wheel to react independently, this system maximizes tire contact and grip. It eliminates the "pogo" effect common with solid axles, especially when cornering on uneven surfaces.
Precision Camber Curve: The architecture includes an upper link designed to produce -0.5 degrees of camber curve at 3/4 of total travel. This ensures that during high-G cornering, the tires maintain their optimal angle against the pavement for maximum lateral traction.
High Horsepower Engineering: Built to handle modern high-torque engines, the kit features heavy-duty CV joints and reinforced links designed to withstand aggressive track use and hard launches.
Longitudinal Stability: The system includes forward struts that tie directly into the subframe connectors. This prevents axle wrap and ensures the rear wheels remain perfectly indexed during hard, straight-line acceleration.
Structural Integration
Bolt-In Performance: Despite its complexity, this system is engineered as a bolt-in package for the 1970–1973 Camaro chassis. This allows for a massive performance upgrade without the need for permanent, non-reversible alterations to the floor pan.
Essential Rigidity: The kit comes standard with subframe connectors. These are a requirement for the Camaro's unibody structure, providing the necessary stiffness to support the high loads generated by an independent rear suspension.
Track Width: Optimized for a 58.5-inch track width, making it compatible with a wide range of popular performance wheel and tire combinations.
Adjustable Stance: Features billet adjustable coil-over shocks and 9-inch performance springs, giving you full control over the car's ride height and dampening characteristics.

With original tags attached
In its original packaging

Important: Items sent back without prior authorization will not be accepted.

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon delivery. If your item is defective, damaged, or if you received the wrong item, contact us immediately so we can evaluate the issue and resolve it promptly.

Free Shipping Orders
Orders that qualified for free shipping are subject to deduction of the original outbound shipping cost if the item is returned.
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you regarding the approval status of your refund.
If approved:
Refunds will be issued to your original payment method
Any applicable restocking fees will be deducted
Original shipping charges (if applicable) will be deducted
