Description
It sounds like you’re tackling the classic Buick dilemma: wanting that massive "nailhead-era" stopping power without sacrificing those iconic 802-style Rallye wheels. Because those wheel barrels taper so aggressively, they are notorious for "pinching" modern calipers.
This kit from Master Power Brakes is the standard fix for that specific geometry headache. Here is a breakdown of why these specs matter for your build:
Why This Specific Kit is Required
When upgrading a 1961–1970 LeSabre, Wildcat, or Electra to rear discs, the caliper often sits right where the Rallye wheel barrel starts to narrow.
The Offset: The 7/16"(.4375") thickness is the "Goldilocks" zone—wide enough to push the barrel away from the caliper, but thin enough that you aren't significantly altering your scrub radius or sticking the tires out past the wheel wells.
Hub-Centric Design: This is critical for heavy full-size Buicks. Since the spacer centers on the hub (not just the studs), it prevents the "death wobble" often felt at highway speeds with cheap, universal spacers.

Installation Notes & Safety
Stud Replacement: You must install the included 2.170" studs. Using your stock studs with a 7/16" spacer will not leave enough thread for the lug nuts to grab, which is a major safety hazard.
Compatibility Check: This kit is designed specifically for the 802 Style Rallye Wheel. If you are running aftermarket "tribute" wheels or standard steel wheels with hubcaps, you may not need this much clearance, though the hub-centricity is still a plus.
Torque Sequence: Always re-torque your lug nuts after the first 50–100 miles of driving. Aluminum spacers can "settle" slightly against the steel hub face.
Note: These spacers are the bridge between 1960s style and 2020s safety. Without them, you'll likely find the wheel won't even rotate once the lug nuts are tightened down against the new calipers.
