Description
The 1961–1970 Buick Full-Size HP (High Performance) Legend Series Rear Disc Brake Kit is the premium version of the Legend Series conversion, specifically designed for owners of the Electra, LeSabre, Invicta, and Wildcat who want aggressive styling and maximum cooling efficiency. This bolt-in kit replaces original rear drums with a performance-oriented disc setup that includes an integrated parking brake.
Performance vs. Standard Configuration
While the Standard kit uses smooth vented rotors, the HP (Performance) version upgrades the system with:
Drilled and Slotted Rotors: These 11.6-inch rotors are precision drilled and slotted to provide maximum heat dissipation and outgassing. This design keeps the brake pads cleaner and significantly reduces the risk of brake fade during spirited driving or heavy braking.
Enhanced Aesthetics: The drilled and slotted pattern provides a modern, high-performance look that is highly visible through open-spoke custom wheels.
Modern Braking Technology
Self-Adjusting Calipers: The single-piston cast-iron calipers are finished in a corrosion-resistant zinc plating. They feature an internal self-adjusting parking brake mechanism, allowing you to retain your factory emergency brake functionality without manual adjustments.
Braided Stainless Steel Hoses: Every HP kit includes black braided stainless steel hoses. These provide a superior "firm" pedal feel compared to rubber lines, which can swell and soften under pressure.
Billet Axle Flanges: Unlike universal kits, this system uses 6061-T6 billet aluminum axle flange plates (anodized black) to ensure the calipers are perfectly centered and secured to the Buick axle housing.
Essential Fitment & Wheel Notes
Wheel Requirement: A minimum 15-inch wheel is required for caliper clearance. Because of the unique drop-center design of some vintage Buick wheels, it is recommended to use a fitment template before installation.
Bolt Pattern: The performance rotors are pre-drilled for the standard GM 5 x 5" bolt pattern.
Buick Rallye Wheels: Note that if you are utilizing 802 style Rallye wheels, you will likely require a specific spacer/stud kit to clear the caliper body.

Unworn or unused
With original tags attached
In its original packaging
You must also provide a receipt or proof of purchase.

Important: Items sent back without prior authorization will not be accepted.

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon delivery. If your item is defective, damaged, or if you received the wrong item, contact us immediately so we can evaluate the issue and resolve it promptly.

Exchanges
The fastest way to receive a replacement item is to return your original item (once approved) and place a new order separately.
Free Shipping Orders
Orders that qualified for free shipping are subject to deduction of the original outbound shipping cost if the item is returned.
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you regarding the approval status of your refund.
If approved:
Refunds will be issued to your original payment method
Any applicable restocking fees will be deducted
Original shipping charges (if applicable) will be deducted
Return shipping costs (if arranged by Hot Rod Hardware) will be deducted
