Description
The 1957–60 Ford F100 Lower Door Bottom Repair Kit (EMS Automotive Part # 420) is a premium, heavy-duty sheet metal patch system engineered specifically to combat the common rust out and rot areas that plague the lower doors of these classic trucks. Manufactured in the USA by Engineering Manufacturing Services (EMS Auto), this kit provides precise die-stamped replacement panels that allow you to section out degraded metal rather than hunting down hard-to-find, expensive, and often equally rotted original replacement doors.
Bi-Gauge Structural Construction
To ensure a factory-correct repair that restores original chassis rigidity and external body lines, EMS Auto manufactures this kit utilizing two distinct sheet metal thicknesses:
18-Gauge Steel Inner Structure: The inner door bottom panel is stamped from heavy 18-gauge cold-rolled steel. This extra thickness handles the structural load of the door assembly, provides rigid attachment points for inner weatherstripping, and forms the foundational drainage channel structure.
20-Gauge Steel Outer Skin: The outer patch skin is stamped from crisp 20-gauge steel, matching the flexibility and form of the original Ford body sheet metal. This ensures a clean weld-up and easier metal finishing/blocking along the external lower door contour.
Seamless Fitment & Coverage
Complete Kit Design (1 Bushing/2 Halves Equivalent Layout): Each purchase includes both the inner structural floor section and the outer door skin section to completely rebuild one door lower corner.
Universal Regular Cab Fitment: Die-stamped to fit all standard 1957, 1958, 1959, and 1960 Ford F100, F250, and F350 regular cab pickup trucks.
Extra Material Allowance: Stamped with extended margins to give fabricators plenty of material to scribe, trim, and butt-weld directly into the stable upper sheet metal of the factory door shell.
🛠️ Fabricator's Installation Note: Before final welding, ensure you mock up the assembly on the truck body hinges to check the lower cab corner door gaps. Additionally, ensure you coat the internal, unexposed faces of the new 18-gauge structure and outer 20-gauge skin with a high-quality weld-through zinc primer to prevent hidden moisture and condensation from creating fresh rust in the new door seam.
