Description
The 1952–1954 Ford and Mercury Sedan Door Bottom Repair Kit by EMS Automotive is a high-quality sheet metal repair solution designed to address common rust and rot along the lower inner and outer door structures. Made in Detroit, USA, this kit provides die-stamped, precision-formed replacement panels that extend high enough to repair the door frame above the lower door hinge line while retaining all original OEM shapes and contours.
Vehicle Application & Compatibility
Ford Models (1952, 1953, 1954): Fits all 2-Door Sedans, Victoria Hardtops, and Sunliner Convertibles.
Mercury Models (1952, 1953, 1954): Fits all 2-Door Sedans, Monterey Hardtops, and Convertibles.
Coverage Area: Engineered specifically for the long front doors of 2-door body styles, covering the lower inner door frame and outer door skin section over the lower hinge pocket.
Product Overview & Performance
Lower door rust is extremely common on 1950s Fords and Mercurys due to clogged internal door drain holes collecting moisture. Standard flat patch panels require extensive hammer-and-dolly fabrication to recreate the original inner door structure and lower hinge mounting area.
EMS Automotive solves this by die-stamping OEM-accurate replacement panels using heavy-gauge automotive steel. The inner door bottom panel is constructed from heavy 18-gauge steel to maintain structural rigidity around the door hinge mount, while the outer door skin is formed from standard 20-gauge steel with pre-bent hem flanges. The pre-formed hem flanges allow body technicians to fold the outer skin cleanly around the inner door shell bottom, mimicking factory assembly methods.
Key Features & Design Highlights
Die-Stamped OEM Shapes: Formed with factory-correct drain slots, stiffening ribs, and lower hinge clearance pockets for a seamless fit.
Heavy 18-Gauge Inner Frame Panel: Extra-thick steel inner structure provides maximum rigidity for lower hinge support and latch alignment.
Standard 20-Gauge Outer Skin: Correct thickness outer panel matches original sheet metal for easy butt-welding and smooth metal finishing.
Pre-Bent Hem Flanges: Pre-formed bottom and side hem flanges simplify folding the outer skin over the inner door shell.
High Repair Height: Extends over the top of the lower door hinge to replace heavily rusted metal in the hinge pocket region.
American-Made Quality: Stamped and manufactured by EMS Automotive in Detroit, Michigan, USA.
