Description
The 1940 Chevy Car Front Floor Pan Kit for Stock Firewall by EMS Automotive is a complete sheet-metal replacement system designed to restore rusty or cut floor pans while retaining the original factory firewall. Covering the floor from the toe-board area to approximately halfway under the front seat, this kit spans the full rocker-to-rocker width and includes an enlarged transmission tunnel cover sized to clear modern, oversized automatic transmissions used in restomod and modern drivetrain swaps.
System Architecture & Structural Features
Full-Width Rocker-to-Rocker Coverage: Spans completely from driver to passenger side, replacing rotted floor sections from the toe-boards (mating to the stock firewall) rearward to roughly the middle of the front seat area.
Heavy-Gauge Stamped Steel: Manufactured in Detroit, Michigan by EMS Automotive using heavy 18-gauge steel for structural rigidity, original panel strength, and clean weld penetration.
Stock Firewall Compatibility: Formed specifically to align and flange with the factory 1940 Chevrolet firewall base and toe-board transition, eliminating the need to cut or replace the original firewall.
High-Clearance Transmission Tunnel: Features an enlarged transmission cover designed to clear larger modern and vintage GM automatic transmissions (such as TH400, 700R4, 4L60E, 4L80E, and modern 6-speed automatics like the 6L80/6L90) without manual slicing or patchwork hammer-forming.
Universal 1940 Body-Style Fitment: Engineered to fit all 1940 Chevrolet passenger car and light delivery body platforms.

Flange & Rust Preparation: Cut away all original rusted sheet metal back to sound, solid metal on the inner rocker panels, firewall seam, and rear floor riser. Coat all overlapping pinch flanges with weld-through primer prior to plug welding or seam welding.
Inner Rocker Alignment: Clamp the panels firmly against the inner rocker structures on both sides to verify square alignment and door-gap stability before tack welding.
