The 1937–39 Chevy 2" Setback Firewall is a specialized body panel designed for builders installing a Small Block Chevy (SBC) engine. By providing essential clearance at the rear of the engine bay, this panel allows for a professional engine fitment while maintaining a clean, custom look.
Engine Clearance & Dimensions
2-Inch Setback: The firewall features a 2-inch deep pocket, which is the standard depth required to clear a Small Block Chevy’s distributor and valve covers in these specific model years.
28-Inch Width: The setback area is 28" wide, providing generous room for various valve cover styles and ignition setups without crowding the engine.
Precision Fit: Designed specifically for 1937, 1938, and 1939 Chevrolet passenger cars, ensuring the lines of the setback flow naturally with the original cowl.
Structural Benefits
Heavy-Duty Material: Typically constructed from 16-gauge steel, this panel is significantly thicker and more rigid than the original factory sheet metal.

Installation & Compatibility
Weld-In Design: This is a permanent modification that requires cutting out the center section of the original firewall and welding the new setback panel in its place.
Universal SBC Support: While designed for the Small Block Chevy, the 28" width also provides a great starting point for other modern engine swaps that require additional firewall depth.
Finish: Supplied in bare steel, requiring prep and primer before final paint to ensure a show-quality finish.

Eligibility for Returns
To be eligible for a return, your item must be:
In the same condition as received
Unworn or unused
With original tags attached
In its original packaging
You must also provide a receipt or proof of purchase.

To initiate a return, please contact us at jonathon@hotrodhardware.com. Once your return request is approved, you will be provided with the return address and, if applicable, an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number.
Important: Items sent back without prior authorization will not be accepted.

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon delivery. If your item is defective, damaged, or if you received the wrong item, contact us immediately so we can evaluate the issue and resolve it promptly.

Exchanges
The fastest way to receive a replacement item is to return your original item (once approved) and place a new order separately.
Free Shipping Orders
Orders that qualified for free shipping are subject to deduction of the original outbound shipping cost if the item is returned.
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you regarding the approval status of your refund.
If approved:
Refunds will be issued to your original payment method
Any applicable restocking fees will be deducted
Original shipping charges (if applicable) will be deducted
Return shipping costs (if arranged by Hot Rod Hardware) will be deducted
