The U.S. Radiator Copper/Brass Desert Cooler Radiator for the 1928–1929 Ford Model A is the industry standard for the classic "Chevy in a Ford" hot rod configuration. Specifically designed to cool a Small Block Chevy (SBC) 350 V8, this radiator provides the high-performance thermal transfer required for a modern engine while maintaining the period-correct look of a copper and brass assembly.
Traditional Craftsmanship & High-Performance Cooling
U.S. Radiator utilizes all-new materials to ensure this unit provides "OE" looks with modern durability. Unlike aluminum units, this copper/brass radiator offers a traditional aesthetic that perfectly complements a vintage radiator shell.
4-Row High-Efficiency Core: Featuring a 1980s-style design with 1/2" tubes on 3/8" centers, this 4-row core provides significantly more cooling capacity than original 1920s units, making it ideal for the high-output cooling demands of a 350 V8.
Downflow Design: The traditional vertical flow pattern ensures a perfect fit within the narrow and tall 1928–1929 Ford radiator shell.
Built-in Transmission Cooler: Available with an integrated internal cooler (8-1/2 x 5/16 IF) to support automatic transmissions like the TH350, TH400, or 700R4.
Small Block Chevy Optimization
This radiator is pre-plumbed for a seamless engine swap:
GM Hose Connections: Features a 1-1/2" inlet and 1-3/4" outlet positioned correctly for standard Small Block Chevy water pump and thermostat housing locations.
Drop-In Fit: Engineered as a direct bolt-up unit for the 1928–1929 Ford frame, requiring no custom fabrication for mounting.
Advanced Core Technologies
For those driving in extreme climates or running high-compression engines, several core upgrades are available:
High Efficiency Tripleflow: coolant is re-routed through the core three times. By staying in the airflow longer, the temperature drop is significantly increased compared to a single-pass design.
Optima Core: This "extreme style" core features tubes on 5/16" centers, offering 40% more heat transfer points than standard cores. It is almost always paired with the Tripleflow option for maximum efficiency.

With original tags attached
In its original packaging
You must also provide a receipt or proof of purchase.

Important: Items sent back without prior authorization will not be accepted.

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon delivery. If your item is defective, damaged, or if you received the wrong item, contact us immediately so we can evaluate the issue and resolve it promptly.

Free Shipping Orders
Orders that qualified for free shipping are subject to deduction of the original outbound shipping cost if the item is returned.
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you regarding the approval status of your refund.
If approved:
Refunds will be issued to your original payment method
Any applicable restocking fees will be deducted
Original shipping charges (if applicable) will be deducted
Return shipping costs (if arranged by Hot Rod Hardware) will be deducted
