Description
The U.S. Radiator Copper/Brass Desert Cooler Radiator for 1928–1929 Ford Model A is the definitive choice for a traditional "period-correct" hot rod build. Specifically engineered for the Ford Flathead V8 engine, this radiator combines the classic look and durability of copper and brass with a high-efficiency 4-row core designed to handle the unique cooling requirements of a Flathead swap.
Traditional Construction & Modern Cooling
Unlike aluminum radiators that can look out of place in a vintage engine bay, this unit uses all-new copper and brass materials to maintain the 1920s aesthetic while providing a significant cooling upgrade:
4-Row High-Efficiency Core: Flatheads are notoriously "hot-running" engines. This 4-row design increases the surface area for maximum heat dissipation, ensuring your V8 stays cool even in a tight Model A engine compartment.
Downflow Design: Follows the original Ford vertical flow pattern to fit perfectly within standard 1928–1929 radiator shells.
Rugged Durability: Copper/brass construction is traditionally easier to repair than aluminum and offers excellent long-term resistance to vibration and thermal cycling.
Flathead-Specific Configuration
Because Flathead V8 engines feature a unique cooling path, this radiator is purpose-built to accommodate them:
4 Hose Connections: The unit features the necessary dual inlets and dual outlets required for the Flathead's two-water-pump cooling system.
Customizable Fittings: To ensure a perfect fit for your specific year of Flathead (1932–1953), you must specify your desired hose sizes and locations when ordering.
Transmission Cooler: Available with an optional built-in transmission cooler if you are running a modern automatic transmission behind your vintage engine.

Installation Notes
Drop-In Fit: Designed as a "bolt-up" unit for the 1928–1929 Ford frame, requiring no major modifications for mounting.
Maintenance: While this is a copper/brass unit, U.S. Radiator still recommends using high-quality 50/50 premix coolant to prevent internal scaling and maintain the high-efficiency heat transfer rates.
