Description
The Allstar Performance 1/8" NPT to -3 AN 45-Degree Adapter is a high-pressure fitting designed for precision plumbing in automotive braking and oiling systems. The 45-degree angle provides a versatile "middle ground" for hose routing, often used when a straight fitting is too long and a 90-degree fitting is too tight.
Technical Specifications
Thread A (Male NPT): 1/8"-27 NPT. This tapered pipe thread is the industry standard for brake calipers, aftermarket master cylinders, and engine block oil ports.
Thread B (Male AN): -3 AN (37° Flare). This is the standard size for braided stainless steel brake lines.
Angle: 45-degree bend, ideal for angling hoses away from suspension components or hot exhaust manifolds while maintaining a smooth fluid flow.
Material: Constructed from heavy-duty steel to withstand high hydraulic pressures and resist the stripping common with softer aluminum fittings.
Common Applications
Brake Calipers: Used to connect -3 AN flex lines to calipers with 1/8" NPT inlets, particularly where the hose needs to exit at an angle to clear steering or suspension travel.
Oil Pressure Senders: Ideal for plumbing mechanical oil gauges or turbo feed lines into an engine block where space is limited by the firewall or accessories.
Fluid Compatibility: Fully compatible with all types of brake fluid, engine oil, and transmission fluid.
Installation Best Practices
NPT Side: As a tapered pipe thread, the 1/8" NPT side requires a small amount of thread sealant or PTFE (Teflon) tape to create a leak-proof seal.
AN Side: The -3 AN side relies on a mechanical 37-degree flare seat. This side must be installed dry; never use sealant on AN threads as it can interfere with the flare seal and cause leaks.
